ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop baseball team will take on The Citadel Bulldogs and Furman Paladins this week in consecutive midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Game times for both contests are 6 p.m.

The Eagles will host the Bulldogs on Tuesday at The Winthrop Ballpark before traveling to Greenville, SC to take on the Paladins at Latham Stadium.

Winthrop enters the week with a 12-25 record after losing two out of three last weekend in conference play to Liberty, while The Citadel is 16-21 and Furman 17-20 overall. The Eagles lead the all-time series over the Bulldogs 21-20, and 19-2 over the Paladins.

Justin Hopper leads the Winthrop offense with a .291 average at the plate, while Matt Lobacz has 26 RBI on the season and Patrick Gamblin has hit a team-leading four home runs. Tyler Klitsch tops the Eagle pitching staff with a 3.14 ERA, and Matt Pierpont and Eric Ruth have three wins each on the season. Pierpont also leads in innings pitched (66.2) and strikeouts (60) and complete games (2).

The Citadel is led by head coach Fred Jordan, who is in his 21^st season with the program. Grant Richards leads the Bulldogs' offense with a .318 average, while Justin Mackert has a team-high four home runs and 25 RBI with 66 total bases on the season. Austin Pritcher posts a team-best four wins on the mound with one complete game, and Kevin Connell's 2.83 ERA in lowest on the team.

Furman is led by head coach Ron Smith, who is in his 19^th season with the program. The Paladins are led on offense by Will Owens with a .356 average, and Will Miller has tallied eight home runs and Paul Nitto 36 RBI. The Paladin pitching staff is led by Bobby Lyne with five wins and 52.1 innings pitched, while Elliott Warford has a 3.46 ERA.
