ROCK HILL, SC –
The Winthrop baseball team fell in both games to the Stony Brook Seawolves and Michigan Wolverines by one run each on Saturday at The Winthrop Ballpark. The Eagles fell 4-3 to the Seawolves in game one and 9-8 in game two to the Wolverines on day two of the Bojangles Baseball Classic.

“The consistency level of the team is not where it needs to be,” said head coach Tom Riginos. “We just didn't get it done. We have to address these consistency issues and get the guys playing better. In college baseball you have to play all 27 outs, and we didn't do that today. We have to get better at that.”

Robert Lake (0-2) took the game one loss throwing 6.0 innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits, four walks and five strikeouts. Tyler Johnson (2-1) threw 5.0 innings and surrendered three runs on six hits, three walks and five strikeouts to earn the win. Pierpont's three hits led the Eagles offense in game one, and along with Cook, had one RBI. Mason had a team-high two hits for the Seawolves, and was one of three players with one RBI each.

Ben Ballantine (1-1) came on in relief of starter Alex Lakatos to earn the win for the Wolverines tossing 6.1 scoreless innings on three hits, two walks and six strikeouts.
