Track & Field Set To Compete At The Big South Championship

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Winthrop track and field teams are set to return to High Point University this season. This time, for the 2026 Big South Outdoor Championships. Competition will begin on Monday, May 11 at 11:30pm with the women's heptathlon 100m dash. Running events on Monday and Tuesday will consist of preliminary rounds with the exception of the men's and women's 10,000m final. Field events will be straight finals on their respective days and running event finals will take place on Wednesday, May 13. General meet information can be found HERE.

ABOUT THE EAGLES 
  • Newly minted head coach Raffael Craig guides the Eagles in his first season at the helm
  • The men's squad returns 25, adding ten newcomers 
  • The women's squad returns 16, and adds 13 new athletes

ON THE TRACK 

  • The men's 4x100m relay took home fourth in a time of 41.02
  • Tristen Patterson moved to No. 2 in Winthrop history in the 400m with a time of 47.49, a new personal best
  • Jade Reese set a new personal best in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.08
  • Amaiya Whitlock ran a season best time of 12.45 in the women's 100m dash
  • Jurnii Lucas ran the second fastest time in school history in the 400H with a time of 52.29
  • Michael Boucher set a new personal best in the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.55
IN THE FIELD
  • Faith Wood secured fourth in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.51m
  • Brianna Breau placed sixth in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 39.83m
  • Maurion Jamison secured a top-ten finish in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.47m
