Track & Field Concludes Season At Big South Championships

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The Winthrop University track and field teams finished the 2026 outdoor season at the Big South Championships held at High Point University. The three days of competition were highlighted by six school records and six podium finishes. The women finished seventh in the team standings while the men finished sixth. DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Boyd Brackett moved to No. 2 in school history in the men's javelin with a distance of 56.92m to place seventh
  • Jurnii Lucas advanced to the 400H finals with a second place finish in 52.77
  • Katlyn Young-Coleman ran a personal best time of 24.87 in the women's 200m dash
  • Shane King and Kevin Brown advanced to the 200m final placing seventh and tenth in the preliminary round
  • Jason Krell advanced to the 1500m final with a time of 3:59.94, finishing ninth in the preliminary round

DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Faith Wood set the school record in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.05m to finish fourth overall
  • Maurion Jamison claimed the bronze medal in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.42m
  • Abigail Tulley claimed fifth in the women's pole vault with a height of 3.38m, a new personal best
  • Jordan Bailem ran a new personal best in the 100H, finishing in 14.41
  • Michaela Hayes set a new personal best in the women's 400m dash with a time of 1:00.41
  • Tristen Patterson, Darrell Price, and Kendale Cooke all advanced to the men's 400m dash final
  • Jade Reese placed fifth in the women's 100m dash prelims to advance to the final, setting a new personal best of 11.83
  • Shane King and Michael Boucher each advanced to the men's 100m dash finals
  • Mitchell Hill easily advanced to the men's 800m final, qualifying in 1:50.71

DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jasmine Stokes jumped a personal best in the women's high jump with a height of 1.48m
  • Brianna Breau claimed the bronze medal and school record in the women's javelin with a new personal best throw of 43.00m
  • The women's 4x100m relay team placed fourth with a new season best time of 46.58
  • The men's 4x100m relay team consisting of Kevin Brown, Carlos Frank Jr., Shane King, and Michael Boucher claimed gold with a school record time of 40.43
  • Jade Reese finished seventh in the women's 100m dash final
  • Mitchell Hill earned the bronze medal in the men's 800m, shattering the school record in 1:49.29 and becoming the first athlete in Winthrop history to break 1:50
  • Jurnii Lucas broke his own school record in the 400H final to place third in 52.27
  • Shane King came home with the bronze medal in the men's 200m dash with a personal best time of 20.99

The Eagles will compete in the Big South Conference Outdoor Championship starting on Monday, May 11, at noon in High Point, North Carolina.
