Rock Hill, S.C. – Coming off several impressive performances in duel meets at Lenoir-Rhyne and Virginia back on Apr. 26 and 27, Winthrop men's and women's track and field programs will enter post-season competition at the 2025 Big South Outdoor Track And Field Championships on the campus of UNC Asheville in North Carolina.

LAST YEAR AT THE BIG SOUTH OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
- Kenneth Williams, Jr. leaped to the Big South Championship in the men's long jump on the first day of the 2024 Big South Outdoor Track And Field Championships on the campus of High Point University on May 6
- Monay James's win in the women's heptathlon highlighted day two for Winthrop on the second day of the 2024 Big South Outdoor Track And Field Championships on May 7
- She became Winthrop's first ever women's heptathlon champion with a school record of 4966, garnering her an all-conference honor. The point total eclipses the old record Taryn Deleon 4877 set in 2017
- Faith Wood took home third in the women's triple jump with another school record of 11.91m
- Joining James on the All-Big South team were triple jumpers Maurion Jamison (14.04m) and Wood (11.91m)
- Wood's jump broke her school record again
- Two school records and three All-Conference honors led Eagle performances on the final day of the 2024 Big South Outdoor Track And Field Championships on May 8
- Toluwayan Agbeyomi lost in a photo finish in the men's 100m dash but set a school record of 10.32. His 2nd place finish gave him All-Big South honors
- Joining Agbeyomi on the honors stand was freshman Mitchell Hill in the men's 800m run (1:52.28) and sophomore Johntavia Shaw in the women's discus throw (47.14m)
- Both claimed third place
- Freshman Shane King finished 7th in the men's 200m dash setting a school record of 21.32.
- Jonquez Webb and Wood were named to the 2024 Big South Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team
SEASON AWARDS
- 4x400 relay team Kendale Cooke, Jurnii Lucas, Kevin Brown, Shane King- Big South Men's Track Athletes of the Week-Feb. 21-23
- Cooke, Lucas, Brown and King finished runner-up at the USC Invite with a time of 3:13.91, which ranks second in the league this season
- DeAngelo Brooks-Big South Men's Track Freshman of the Week-Feb. 21-23
- Brooks set a PR in the 60m dash at the USC Invite with a time of 6.97 to finish 10th overall, marking his highest standing in any event this season
LAST TIME OUT
- Winthrop completely dominated the competition at the Lenoir-Rhyne Open back on Saturday, Apr. 26
- A trio of Eagles then competed at the Virginia High Performance the next day
- A premier distance destination meet, the Eagles were joined by host school Virginia alongside Hampton, Liberty, North Carolina A&T, Radford, Rochester, and Virginia Tech
On The Track
- In the women's 4x100 meter relay, a team consisting of Amaiya Whitlock, Katlyn Young-Coleman, Raven Verner and Jade Reese won unanimously with a time of 47.15 as they were the only squad competing in the event
- In the women's 100m hurdles, Jordan Bailem finished in 2nd with a time of 15.79
- In the men's 110m hurdles, Ian Gresham, Wathen Montgomery and Ryen Ridgill were the top three finishers for the Eagles
- Alexandra Cameron and Sydney Yarema finished in 2nd and 3rd in the women's 400m dash, respectively
- Jurnii Lucas, Shane King and Reggie Grant posted the top three finishes for the Eagles in the men's 400m dash
- Verner won the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.42 while Young-Coleman finished in 2nd with a time of 12.73
- Jonquez Webb won the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.93
- Jayla Weeks finished in 6th in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:38.57
- Anthony Muller finished in 7th in the men's 800m run with a time of 2:03.90
- Alexis Taylor finished in 4th in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:13.75
- Lucas won the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 56.52
- In the women's 200m dash, six athletes finished 1-6 for the Eagles
- King and Grant finished in 4th and 5th, respectively for the Eagles in the men's 200m dash
On The Field
- Emily Hartsoe won the women's discus throw with a toss of 39.54m
- Madison Washington and Maddie Spenner rounded out the top three finishes for the Eagles in the same event
- Logan Ruehl finished runner-up in the men's discus throw with a toss of 43.21m
- In the women's javelin throw, Briana Breau and Erica Tobin placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively
- In the men's javelin throw, Gabriel Little finished fifth with a hurl of 45.92m
- In the women's long jump, three Eagles all placed in the top three
- Logan Hart won the event with a leap of 5.22m while Faith Wood and Lasharie Mack had marks of 5.11m and 4.81m, respectively
- In the men's long jump, Michael Boucher finished in 3rd with a leap of 6.25m
- Amy Glowatch was 5th in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 39.04m
- Devin Chavis and Mills Sharpe placed 3rd and 6th in the men's hammer throw, respectively
- Washington and Hartsoe were 4th and 5th in the women's shot put, respectively
- Hart finished runner-up in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.17m
- In the men's triple jump, Maurion Jamison also finished in 2nd with a mark of 13.74m
