Rock Hill, S.C. – Coming off several impressive performances at their lone home meet last weekend, Winthrop men's and women's track and field programs continue their 2025 outdoor season by competing in duel meets at the Lenoir-Rhyne Open and the Virginia High Performance this weekend.

ABOUT THE EAGLES
- The Eagles opened their outdoor track and field season with a meet in Elon. Winthrop is building off an outstanding fall with a blend of accomplished returners and newcomers with potential
- Jeremy Falwell Chavis has been named the Interim Head & Track Field Coach
- The slate includes visits to Elon, Davidson, UNC Pembroke, Lynchburg, Lenoir-Rhyne and Virginia and two visits to Duke during the outdoor season
- Six of the eight regular-season meets will occur in the state of North Carolina as well as the Big South Conference Outdoor Championships at UNC Asheville from May 12-14
- In a last-minute addition to the schedule, a few distance runners for the Eagles will compete at the Virginia High Performance this Sunday
- The athletes competing are Anna Conrad, Kayah Marques and Chadwick Sisson as they will be running the 800m dash
SEASON AWARDS
- 4x400 relay team Kendale Cooke, Jurnii Lucas, Kevin Brown, Shane King- Big South Men's Track Athletes of the Week-Feb. 21-23
- Cooke, Lucas, Brown and King finished runner-up at the USC Invite with a time of 3:13.91, which ranks second in the league this season
- DeAngelo Brooks-Big South Men's Track Freshman of the Week-Feb. 21-23
- Brooks set a PR in the 60m dash at the USC Invite with a time of 6.97 to finish 10th overall, marking his highest standing in any event this season

On The Track
- The women's 4x200 relay squad consisting of Raven Verner, Jordan Bailem, Amayia Whitlock and Jade Reese captured the top spot in the event with a time of 1:43.33
- The men's 4x200 relay team consisting of Shadrach Nvodjo, Kevin Brown, DeAngelo Brooks and Shane King also nabbed the top honors with a time of 1:27.42
- Sydney Yarema finished third in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.06 and finished third in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.45m
- In the women's 4x200 relay, a team consisting of Alexandra Cameron, Maya Flynn, Ariana Washington and Jasmine Stokes were runner-up with a time of 1:46.11
- In the men's 4x200 relay, a team consisting of Carlos Frank Jr., Reggie Grant, Kendale Cooke, and Jurnii Lucas also finished in second with a time of 1:28.22
- In the men's 400m hurdles, Lucas and Wathen Montgomery were second and third, respectively
- In the men's 800m run, Chadwick Sisson placed second with a time of 1:56.25 while Anna Conrad also finished second in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:19.12
- Women's 4x100 of Amaiya Whitlock, Katlyn Young-Coleman, Raven Verner and Jade Reese finished first among the three competing as it edged out Johnson C. Smith by 0.02
- The 4x100 women's squad turned in a time of 47:27, which is a season-best (breaking previous mark of 49.05
- In the women's 100m hurdles, Jordan Bailem took 3rd in her first appearance in the event at the collegiate level
- In the same event Kendall Crossley set a PR with a time of 16.28
- In the men's 100m final, Jonquez Webb edged out Kevin Brown
- Webb and Brown posted the same time of 10.62, a PR for Webb
- Shadrach Nvodjo set a PR in the 100 with a time of 10.93 while Gresham did as well with a time of 11.08
- The men's 4x100 also set a season-low, posting a time of 41:51 set by the combination of DeAngelo Brooks, Nvodjo, Brown and Webb
- Kendale Cooke and Justin Powell finished second and third respectively in the men's 400m
- Alexandra Cameron set a PR in the women's 400m with a time of 1:00.20, which is 1.11 faster than her previous mark
- Ian Gresham took first place in the men's 110m hurdles with a PR of 14.99
- Reese finished 2nd in the 100m with a PR of 12.14 while finishing 3rd in the 200m (25.80)
- Daren Hinds finished second in the men's 1,500m with a time of 4:02.05 and Connor Magill was third with a PR of 4:03.81
- Chadwick Sisson also set a PR in the 1,500m with a time of 4:11.47, over three seconds improvement from previous time
- Shane King finished 2nd in the men's 200m while Jurnii Lucas was 4th
On The Field
- Johntavia Shaw won the women's hammer with a toss of 50.82m
- Devin Chavis took home the men's hammer with a hurl of 47.65m
- Brianna Breau not only won the women's javelin throw with a toss of 40.52m but set a new school record in the process
- Nvodjo racked in his second event of the day as well as the sixth victory overall for the Eagles on the first day of the meet with a leap of 1.90m in the high jump
- In the men's hammer, Timothy Speaks finished third with a hurl of 44.27m
- In the women's javelin, Erica Tobin was runner-up with a toss of 35.10m while Gabriel Little was also second in the men's javelin with a mark of 47.78m
- In the men's high jump, Jaden Mathieu finished second with a leap of 1.85m
- Johntavia Shaw took first in the discus with a hurl of 41.23m
- Madison Washington took third in the discus
- Timothy Speaks finished 5th out of 12 competitors in the men's shot put
- Shaw also took first place in the women's shot put with a toss of 12.14m while Emily Hartsoe took third and Madison Washington was 4th
- Faith Wood claimed first in the women's triple jump while Logan Hart finished 4th
- Maurion Jamison took second in the men's triple jump
