Charlotte, N.C. –Winthrop men's & women's track & field programs began their 2023-24 outdoor track and field season at the 49er Classic.

In The Field
- In the men's triple jump, sophomore Maurion Jamison placed 7th with a mark of 14.03m.
On The Track
- The women's 4x100 relay team finished 2nd in 47.67 seconds.
- In the women's 3k, sophomore Olivia Kemp finished with a time of 10:49.83.
- The men's 4x800 relay team placed 7th with a time of 8:17.04.
Coach Paxton Post-Meet Comments
"Good to get outdoors and experience all kinds of weather we might see later on," head coach
Ben Paxton said. "The meet hosted 80+ teams and 2000+ athletes so we had a chance to move people around and compete everyone. As the weather warms up, we are looking forward to firing on all cylinders."

The Eagles continue their outdoor season next weekend in their only home meet of the year, hosting the 2024 Winthrop/Adidas Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track on Mar. 22-23.
