Big South Announces Outdoor Track & Field Polls

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Winthrop University men's and women's outdoor track & field squads have been placed at sixth and seventh in its respective polls, the conference office announced on Thursday afternoon. 

On the men's side, High Point paced the preseason poll with seven first-place votes and 63 total points, while Charleston Southern picked up one first-place vote to finish second with 54 points. USC Upstate followed closely in third with 51 points, and UNC Asheville placed fourth with 40. Gardner-Webb checked in fifth with 30 points, while Winthrop earned 26 points for sixth. Longwood (14) and Radford (10) rounded out the poll. 

For the women, High Point led the preseason poll with seven first-place votes and 63 total points, narrowly ahead of Charleston Southern, who collected one first-place vote and 57 points. Radford placed third with 48 points, followed by Gardner-Webb in fourth with 38. UNC Asheville checked in fifth with 33 points, while USC Upstate finished sixth with 22. Winthrop earned 18 points for seventh, and Longwood rounded out the poll with 9. 

The 2026 outdoor track & field season concludes at the Big South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship on May 11 & 13 in High Point, N.C.
