Gator Invitational Results
GAINESVILLE, FL--Junior distance runner
AJ Fitzsimmons (Charleston, SC) captured the Gator Invitational mile run and junior middle distance performer
Adam Leroux (Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia) finished fourth in the 800 meters as the Winthrop men's and women' sindoor track and field teams competed this past weekend at the University of Florida.
Fitzsimmons covered the mile in a time of 4:20.50 to nose out Elias Chesire (unattached) by 1.16 seconds in the tightly contested race.
Leroux gave a strong performance in the 800 meters as he was clocked in 1:56.01. The winning time of 1:54.55 was turned in by James Post of North Florida.
Winthrop will return to action next weekend when it travels to Johnson City, TN to compete in the Niswonger Invitational on the campus of East Tennessee State University.
