Four Winthrop Track & Field Athletes Are Ranked In Top 30 Nationally (12-8-09)

Ashley Howard, Rebecca Holmes , Sasha Robinson And Keary Simms Are Ranked Nationally

ROCK HILL, SC--Four Winthrop track and field athletes, including three members of the Winthrop women's team and one on the men's squad, are ranked in the top 30 nationally in their respective events, according to TFRRS, the national track and field results registry.
Senior Ashley Howard leads the way as she is ranked 23rd in the weight throw with a toss of 16.87 meters (55 feet-4 1/4 inches) after her third place finish last Saturday at the Appalachian State Opener. Howard's toss places her second in the Big South this season.
Hurdler Rebecca Holmes, a senior, is currently ranked 26th in the nation in the 55 meter hurdles after her school record time that placed her third at Appalachian State. Her time of 8.81 seconds is second in the Big South this season.
Junior Sasha Robinson is currently ranked 29th in the nation after her 5th place finish at the Appalachian State. Her time of 58.48 seconds is third in the Big South this season.
Junior Keary Simms is ranked 26th in the men's triple jump after his leap of 13.89 meters (45 feet seven inches) and fifth place finish at Appalachian State. He ranks second in the Big South Conference.
