Baseball Ticket Promotion; Halftime Saxophone And Violin Performances On Tap For Basketball Games

Justin Burton Will Be Honored Along With Charles Corbin On Senior Night
ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop fans who turn out for the men's and women's home basketball games this week will be rewarded with free admission to Eagle home baseball games on Friday and Sunday.  Fans who attend the Senior Night basketball doubleheader on Saturday will also be entertained by accomplished saxophone and violin performances.

Fans who attend the Thursday night men's basketball game against Liberty can show their game ticket or season ticket card to gain free admission to the baseball home opener at 4 p.m. on Friday at The Winthrop Ballpark when the Eagles open the Johnny Gill Memorial Tournament against Wagner.  Likewise, fans who attend Saturday night's game against VMI can use their ticket to receive free admission to Sunday's baseball game against Kent State that begins at 2:30 p.m.

Winthrop has also lined up two entertaining halftime shows for Saturday beginning with the women's game at 4:30 p.m. against High Point.

At halftime of the women's game, accomplished saxophonist Devone Gary, originally from Charleston, SC, will perform on the coliseum court showing his expansive repertoire of music that covers
an expansive range from mainstream and contemporary jazz to R&B, pop, soul, hip-hop, and inspirational.

During the men's halftime, former Winthrop student Daniel D returns to the coliseum after wowing the crowd during a basketball halftime violin performance last year.  A seasoned entertainer at just 21 years old, he is equally comfortable performing for an audience of 50,000 at USC's Williams-Brice Stadium as he is playing at his family's church on Sunday.

In 2009, Daniel released his first Album 'Play For Me'. Soon afterwards he was sought out to open for Jamie Fox and Kanye West on B.E.T's 106 & Park. He was later asked to do a spotlight performance for 106, and he won first place at the 2009 Apollo that same night. In addition, he's performed for Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, T.V. host Larry King, and for Michael Jackson at Jessie Jackson's birthday party.
