Duncomb, Beckham Named Comporium Student-Athletes For Month Of February

Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop men's basketball senior Logan Duncomb and softball junior Tia Beckham have been tabbed as the Comporium Student-Athletes of the Month for February.

Duncomb averaged 17.8 ppg and 10.7 rpg during the month. He began the month with a last second layup to defeat Radford on the road, 80-78. He broke the single-season record for free throws made and free throws attempted. The free throw record was held by Keon Johnson in 2016-17 and the free throws attempted record was 46 seasons ago by Charlie Brunson. Duncomb became only the second Eagle in program history to average a double-double during conference play. Duncomb was voted to the Big South All-Conference First Team and named Big South Conference Player of the Year. He was recently named a finalist for the collegeinsider.com Nolan Richardson Award.

Beckham batted .400 with seven runs, four doubles, a triple, five home, five walks and 22 RBI in 16 games. After starting the season 0-for-11 at the plate and one RBI, Beckham proceeded to go on a tear at the plate  with 18 hits, seven runs, four doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI over the next 11 games. She homered in four straight games which is the best streak on record in program history. She hit grand slam on Feb. 21 against Drexel and on Feb. 25 she hita two-run home run against #19 South Carolina. In the last 11 games she has seven mult-hit games and six multi-RBI games. Beckham is currently leading the team in RBI (24) and third in batting average (.348).
