Eagles Shine at Winthrop Invitational with Multiple Record Book Entries

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Winthrop University track and field teams dominated the Winthrop Invitational and Multis at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Complex with standout performances, including Michael Boucher's 10.53-second victory in the men's 100 meters and a first-place finish in the men's 4x100 relay. 

IN THE FIELD

  • Maurion Jamison placed second in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.81 meters and achieved second place in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.73 meters. 
  • Boyd Brackett secured third place in the men's shot put with a mark of 14.12 meters and placed second in the men's javelin with a mark of 54.63 meters, ranking him third in the school's records. 
  • Timothy Speaks ranked ninth in the school's history in the men's hammer with a mark of 48.81 meters, followed by Mills Sharpe ranking tenth with 47.58 meters. 
  • Kennedi Sander reached second in the school's records for the triple jump with a mark of 11.83 meters. 

ON THE TRACK

  • Michael Boucher placed first in the men's 100 meters with a time of 10.53 seconds, ranking him second in the school's records. 
  • Kevin Brown took second place in the men's 100 meters with a time of 10.54 seconds and secured first place in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.20 seconds. 
  • Jurnii Lucas achieved first place in the men's 400 hurdles with a time of 53.04 seconds, placing him third in the school's records. 
  • The men's 4x100 relay team of Carlos Frank Jr., Tristen Patterson, Shane King, and Michael Boucher finished with a time of 40.66 seconds, the second-best in the school's records. 
  • Justin Powell placed sixth in the school's history in the men's 400 hurdles with a time of 53.91 seconds. 
  • Reginald Grant and Carlos Frank Jr. made it into the top ten for the 100 meters with times of 10.80 and 10.70, respectively. 
  • Jade Reese achieved notable times in the 200 meters and 400 meters, ranking sixth and fifth in the school's records, respectively.

The Eagles will compete in the Duke Twilight on Sunday, May 3, at Morris Williams Stadium.
