ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop University baseball junior
Jaylen Hernandez was selected as this week's Big South Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Hernandez had a standout week at the plate, batting .538 (7-for-13) with seven hits, two doubles, three home runs, 10 RBIs and 18 total bases. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.385 and an on-base percentage of .667 while extending his hitting streak to eight games.
Hernandez opened the week with a 2-for-3 performance against Marshall, driving in one run. He then carried that momentum into the Maine series, going 3-for-4 in the opener with a double, a home run and four RBIs. In Game 2, he went 1-for-3 and added another home run before capping the series with his third home run in as many days in the finale, driving in three more.
