TRYON, N.C. -- The Winthrop University track and field teams wrapped up the 2025-26 indoor season at the Big South Indoor Championships. The women's team finished sixth out of eight teams and the men finished sixth out of eight teams as well. Three school records fell over the course of the championships; the women's distance medley relay, the women's mile, and the men's 200m dash.
FINAL RESULTS
DAY 1 Highlights
- The women's distance medley relay highlighted day one setting a new school record of 12:07.38 and finished on the podium in third for the first time since 2018. The team consisted of Brianna Dooney, Jayla Weeks, Kayah Marques, and Anna Conrad.
- Six different athletes qualified through to finals of their respective events
- Kevin Brown emerged as the top qualifier in the men's 200m dash crossing the line in 21.41. He also advanced in the men's 60m dash with a time of 6.84
- Jade Reese's 25.00 from the women's 200m semifinal moved her to No. 3 in Winthrop school history
DAY 2
- The men's 4x400m relay team consisting of Kevin Brown, Shane King, Kendale Cooke, and Tristen Patterson took home first with a time of 3:14.00 which is good for No. 2 in Winthrop school history
- Marques returned on day two to set a seven second personal best in the women's mile crossing in 4:57.69 which was good for sixth overall
- Brown continued his stellar indoor season by placing 2nd in the 60m dash finals and third in the 200m finals. His 200m time of 21.39 is good for a new Winthrop school record
- Raffael Craig II's 7th place finish in the men's heptathlon is good for No. 2 in school history with 4,204 points
- Craig's 4.12m pole vault mark moves him up to No. 3 in school history
- Tristen Patterson placed 5th in the men's 400m final with a time of 48.96 which now ranks 4th in school history
- Brown and Michael Boucher's 60m dash times of 6.81 and 6.83 rank No. 2 and No. 3 in school history, respectively
- Maurion Jamison claimed the bronze medal in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.53m
- Conrad doubled back to claim sixth in the women's 3,000 meters, setting a new personal best by two seconds
NEXT UP
The Eagles will be off until March 20-21 where they will open the outdoor season at the SoCon/Big South Challenge hosted by UNC Asheville.
