SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Winthrop University cross country teams lined up and started off their 2025 slate with the USC Upstate Eye Opener in Spartanburg on Friday evening.Â

HighlightsÂ
- Both squads finished 8th in the women's 5k and the men's 8k out of twelve and thirteen teams, respectfully.Â
- Anna Conrad captured the highest individual finish for the Eagles of 29th place with a time of 19:08.1.Â
- Kayah Marques followed suit with a time of 19:59.8.Â
- Olivia Kemp and Ella Collins both finished in the sub 21-minute mark, with times of 20:11.3 and 20:23.3.Â
- Kelsey Martin finished the 5k for the first time in her colligate career, clocking in a t 23:39.2.Â
- Jason Krell highlighted the men's runners, finishing the 8k with a mark of 27:04.3.Â
- Freshman Miles Carrier followed behind, completing the course in 27:21.2.Â
- Payne Sisson, Aiden Carrier, and Griffin McNeish all finished under the 29-minute mark.Â
- Mitchell Hill rounds out the men's side, posting a time of 29:07.6.Â

The Eagles take a two-week break before hitting the course again, at the Pfeiffer University Invite in Misenheimer, N.C. on Friday, Sept. 12.Â
