ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop University men's and women's cross country teams kick off the postseason at the 2025 Big South Cross Country Championship hosted by Longwood University. The men's race will go off at 9:00 a.m. and the women will follow at 9:45 a.m. on Friday morning. Admission for spectators is free.
"I'm really excited about both our men's and women's teams. They've worked hard all season, fully committed to a new training system, and the results have shown consistent improvements meet after meet. Coach Aidan Fiol has brought great energy and experience to our distance group, and the progress they've made under his guidance has been tremendous," said Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, Raffael Craig.
LAST TIME OUT
	- At the USC Upstate Invitational, sophomore Anna Conrad led the women's team with her 23rd overall finish running 18:28, a new personal best
 
	- Graduate student Jason Krell led the men with his 71st overall finish running 26:23, a season's best
 
	- Four of the five men ran season or personal bests while four of the five women also ran season or personal bests
 
	- The women placed 8th out of 23 teams while the men placed 10th out of 22 teams
 
ABOUT THE EAGLES 
	- The men's team features seven runners, including four returners (Mitchell Hill, Jason Krell, Griffin McNeish, and Chadwick Sisson) 
 
	- Newcomers for the men are Aiden Carrier, Miles Carrier, and Spencer Shealy 
 
	- The women's squad rosters six runners, five of which return from the previous season (Ella Collins, Anna Conrad, Brianna Dooney, Olivia Kemp, Kayah Marques) 
 
	- The lone newcomer for the Eagle women is Kelsey Martin 
 
	- Krell placed 20th overall and first for the Eagles at the 2024 Big South Championships running a season's best 25:26, competing at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. 
 
	- Sisson earned a placement on the Big South All-Academic Team. This is his first placement on the All-Academic Team and became Winthrop's 25th All-Academic performer on the men's side 
 
	- Conrad returns for the women following a Big South Conference Women's Cross Country Freshman Runner of the Week honor for the week, doing so at the Sand Shark Invitational with a time of 18:52. 
 
	- Kemp was named to the Big South All-Academic Team in 2024, with this being Kemp's second straight All-Academic placement, and she became Winthrop's 29th All-Academic honoree on the women's side. 
 
	- Raffael Craig mans the helm for his first season in charge of the Eagles 
 
	- This is the Eagles 42nd season as a program
