  1. Are there any short-term goals you would like to accomplish in the next few months or even in the next few years?
  • A short term goal I would like to accomplish over the next few years is competing at NCAA D1 Nationals.
  1. Do you find it difficult to have a social life outside of track and field and how do you manage your athletic responsibilities and other outside recreational and non-recreational activities?
  • I do not find it difficult to have a social life outside of track and field. I manage my responsibilities by taking on the most important task at the moment, and working down from there in terms of importance.
  1. How does being an athlete make you a better person?
  • Being an athlete has made me a harder worker and has overall increased how tough I am mentally.
  1. What do you believe is the greatest challenge most athletes are facing today?
  • The greatest challenge most athletes face today is their mental health going unaddressed.
  1. What have you learned about teamwork from your experiences on your teams?
  • I have learned that teamwork is critical to success, even in a sport as individualized as track and field.
  1. What is the best piece of advice you have gained from your coaches?
  • The best advice I have gained is to work harder than anyone else does.
  1. What was it about Winthrop that attracted you?
  • I was attracted to Winthrop due to the athletic opportunity I was offered as well as the positive reviews my sister who used to attend gave me.
  1. What traditional African music and instruments do you play and/or study?
  • I used to play the Djembe, which is a traditional West African drum.
  1. How do you go about studying and playing these instruments?
  • When I was younger, my mother would take me to an African dance studio where they taught me how to play.
  1. Have you ever thought about either parlaying your talents into say a side gig as a solo artist or joining a band that specializes in this genre?
  • I have never thought about using my skills for anything other than recreation.
