Spencer Smith announced the hiring of former Winthrop women's soccer player
Dylan Patterson as assistant coach.
Patterson returns to the women's soccer program after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Mercer.
"We are excited to have Dylan back at Winthrop," said Smith. "Having played and captained at Winthrop she is very familiar with the program. Dylan will be a great representative of Winthrop University and our women's soccer program."
In three years at Mercer Patterson assisted with day-to-day administrative tasks as well as help and organize summer camps as well as lead fundraising initiatives. In her two seasons with the Bears the team boasted a record of 19-10-12.
Patterson played for the Eagles from 2016-19 before graduating in May of 2020 with a degree in sport management. Patterson played in 168 games over the course of her career. In addition to being a team captain, she was a two-time All-Big South Conference selection and a two-time All-Big South Tournament Team selection.
