Track And Field To Conclude Outdoor Regular-Season At App State Open

Rock Hill, S.C. – The Winthrop men's and women's track and field programs conclude the 2024 regular-season outdoor campaign at the App State Open this weekend.

  • Johntavia Shaw's win in the discus throw and Faith Wood's school record in the triple jump highlighted a successful Saturday at the USC Outdoor Open in Columbia, S.C. for the Eagles.
  • Shaw's personal best throw of 47.87m in the women's discus was the top performance for the Eagles.
  • Shaw also finished 5th in the women's hammer throw in 60.14m.
  • Graduate student Ambar Nunez-Gomez was 5th in the hammer with a season-best toss of 51.15m followed by a 8th in the women's discus.
  • Wood broke her two-week old record in the women's triple jump in 11.82m for 5th place.
