Amourie Porter (WBB) have been named the Comporium Student-Athletes of the Month.
Against Averett on Nov. 27 at home (a 99-56 victory), Talford posted 13 points on the night and moved into 5th on the all-time scoring list, passing Winthrop Hall of Famer Tyson Waterman and now has 1,467 career points.
Talford played 245 minutes, shooting more than 60% from the field and the free throw line, while racking up 68 rebounds, 13 steals and 136 points in the month of November this season.
For her efforts against Queens and at Wake Forest on Nov. 17, Porter was named the Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 11-17.
Porter turned in averages of 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while shooting 45.0 percent from the field in games against the Royals and the Demon Deacons. She led the Eagles to a 69-52 win over the Royals with a season-high 19 points and seven rebounds, including an impressive career-high 12-of-14 performance at the free-throw line. The sophomore followed up with nine points, five rebounds, and two assists against Wake Forest.
This represented the first and only time thus far this season an Eagle has taken home a weekly award in women's hoops.
Porter followed that up with a career-high in rebounds to go along with a double double vs. American. She had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the 74-66 victory on Nov. 29 in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the first day of the Puerto Rico Clasico.
Porter enters December having played 210 minutes, shooting nearly 90% from the free throw line to go along with 51 rebounds, 15 assists and 113 points after one month in playing in a Winthrop uniform.
