Lacrosse Announces 2024 Signing Class

Rock Hill, S.C. - Head coach Kara Concheck has announced her fall 2024 signing class of 14 players.
 
"We are so excited to welcome our class of 2024 student-athletes to our Eagle lacrosse family. This group embodies relentless fight, determination, and powerful purpose. We are also proud to represent a total of 12 states across the country and 14 different club programs and high schools. Not only is this group made up of incredible lacrosse players who will elevate our game all over the field, but each will positively contribute to our culture altogether. This is a group of leaders who will continue to build for the future of our program," Concheck said.
 
This is Concheck's first full recruiting class at Winthrop in her second full season as the Eagles head coach.
 
Winthrop Lacrosse 2023 Signees
 
Adrianna Hernandez | Yorktown, VA | York H.S. | Goalie
The first signee is Adrianna Hernandez. She is a two-time all-conference honoree and was the starting goalie on the varsity team from her freshman year forward. She captured a state championship and was named MVP in the title game. Up to this point, Hernandez has 316 saves in 27 games behind the net.
 
"We are excited for Adrianna to come in and make an immediate impact for us between the pipes," Concheck said. "Adrianna has built up not only a fundamentally strong style of play, but also an edge within her skillset that makes her a strong asset. She also serves as a huge vocal leader on the defensive end and we love her presence in the cage."
 
Iris Leavitt | Gilbert, AZ | Highley H.S. | Midfielder
The second signee is Iris Leavitt. Leavitt has won two AZGLA State Championships in high school, capturing the crown in 2021 and 2023. She was also named a D1 All-Star by the AZGLA in 2022. The association awarded her All-State, All-American and All-Star honors in 2023.
 
"Iris is a true midfielder who does not get out worked, and continues to excel in developing her craft on a daily basis," says Concheck. "She is a fierce competitor with a workhorse mentality. She shines with her activity between the lines and ability to put the ball in the back of the next with diversity."
 
Ava-Claire Collins | Little Mountain, SC | Chapin H.S. | Midfielder
The third signee is Ava-Claire Collins. Collins is one of the most decorated players in the school's history. She is the team's record holder for single-season goals (91), caused turnovers (33) and 100+ points scored in a single season. Collins has been named an All-American by USA Lacrosse, a five-time all-state honoree, Region Player of the Year, the Chapin H.S. Girls Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year and Team MVP and is a member of the SC National Team. Off the field, Collins is a member of the National Honors Society and the French National Honors Society and has a 4.6 GPA.
 
"Ava-Claire is a dynamic threat, who uses her height and length to her advantage endline to endline," Concheck said. "Although she is a poised player, she makes her presence known with her assertive play and pushes the pace of play. A natural born athlete, she is also smart and capitalizes on her opportunities."
 
Reese MacDiarmid | Tampa, FL | Academy of the Holy Names | Defender
The next signee is Reese MacDiarmid. MacDiarmid is a two-time captain for the Palms Lacrosse Club team and as a captain for her high school team; MacDiarmid won the district championship and was part of the first win in program history. She is a two-time all-district honoree, an all-region honorable mention honoree and was named to the Gulf Coast Region Team by USA Lacrosse. Off the field, MacDiarmid is the President of the Spirit Club and is a member of the Beta Club, Key Club, Math Honors Society and Spanish Honors Society.
 
"Reese is a fundamentally sound defender who takes care of business," says Concheck. "She is smart, assertive, and breeds confidence within the defensive unit with her communication and decision making. We are so excited to have Reese as an Eagle."
 
Christina Warren | Canton, GA | Creekview H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Christina Warren. A four-year varsity starter in high school, Warren's team advanced to the state championship game. She has been named the Breakout Player and Offensive Player of the Year by her team, is also a 5A/6A All-Area First Team honoree, an All-State Team honoree, and was selected to play in the DI Varsity All-Star Game.
 
"Christina is a ball of fire, and plays with tremendous confidence all over the field," Concheck said. "She is gritty on the draw, physical on defense, and an aggressor on attack who is constantly challenging her opponent."
 
Ashlee Gensits | Bethlehem, PA | Nazareth Area H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Ashlee Gensits. As a combined four-year varsity athlete in both lacrosse and field hockey, Gensits was named a three-time captain on her high school team. Gensits's biggest success, however, has come academically. Ranked in the Top 10% of her class, she is a member of the Senior Executive Council and was previously a member of the Junior Executive Council. In 2022, she was named to the PHSFHCA Individual All-Academic Team and the NFHCA High School Academic Squad, and won the Scholar Athlete Award that year as well.
 
"Ashlee had a breakout summer heading into her senior year, and put herself on the map as a huge scoring threat on the offensive end, and has continued to develop into a multifaceted midfielder," says Concheck. "Her elite stickwork and frame will be an asset for us all over the field."
 
Ivy Elizabeth "Biz" Mann | Lynchburg, VA | E.C. Glass H.S. | Defender
The next signee is Ivy Elizabeth "Biz" Mann. A four-sport athlete, Mann is a four-year varsity starter for both lacrosse and field hockey. In lacrosse, Mann has been named First Team All-Region Defense and Second Team All-State Defense in 2022. Off the field, she is a member of the National Honors Society and Girl Scouts.
 
"Ivy Elizabeth "Biz" has grown up playing with one of the most elite club teams in the country," Concheck said. "She uses her length to her advantage, and isn't afraid of a challenge. She is one of the most coachable student-athletes and is a great anticipator, taking risks.
 
Lily Thompson | Columbus, OH | Olentangy Berlin H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Lily Thompson. Thompson is a four-year high school varsity letter athlete in lacrosse. She has been named OCC Second Team and two-time offensive player of the year by her high school and has earned all-region honorable mention and all-Metro honors.
 
Lily's lockdown defense and raw athleticism with elevate our unit," says Concheck. "She is an incredible athlete who plays fearlessly, while possessing a high IQ-giving which gives her the ability to make quick adjustments. She will contribute remarkably within our transition game as well.

Janie Spicer | Aberdeen, NC | Union Pines H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Janie Spicer. A three-time high school varsity lacrosse captain, Spicer is the team record holder for most goals, points, draw wins and ground balls and has won numerous individual accolades. She has won all-conference honors three times and was named team MVP twice. Spicer also earned all-state honorable mention honors in 2023. Off the field, Spicer has been named to the Distinguished Honor Roll for three straight years and was a Junior Marshall and an AP Scholar last year.
 
"Janie shines endline to endline, and is an asset on the draw as well as within her transitional game," said Concheck. "She pushes the ball and performs at a high level, creating nonstop scoring opportunities as she dominates possession. Janie will play a pivotal role within our midfield unit."
 
Indiana Gannett | Birmingham, AL | Spain Park H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Indiana Gannett. As a captain and a four-year varsity starter in both basketball and lacrosse, Gannett was named All-State 1st Team, an All-Star and 100 career points as a junior in 2023. She was also named the Rookie of the Year by her team in 2021. On the club level, Gannett was the top scorer for the Spain Park lacrosse club in 2022 while also serving as their communications director. Off the field, Gannett is a member of the French Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
 
"Indie's speed is one of her great highlights, and she will serve as a physical force on our defensive end," says Concheck. "She is powerful, plays with a courageous mindset, and is eager to produce with her teammates. 
 
Jane Tattersall | Sacramento, CA | St. Francis Catholic H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Jane Tattersall. In her freshman year in 2021, Tattersall was named All-Sierra Foothill League Second Team. The next year saw Tattersall being named a varsity captain, All-Sierra Foothill League First Team and Team MVP. Her junior year saw her named to the All-Delta League First Team and was named Team Offensive MVP. Tattersall also set the school record for single season goals with 70 and total points for goals and assists with 95. This season Tattersall will be a team captain.
 
Jane is a tough contender whose dodging ability makes her difficult to guard," said Concheck. "She is versatile and has a strong ability to score. Jane will bring some serious energy and intensity onto the field."
 
Morgan Landy | Gilbert, AZ | Highland H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Morgan Landy. Landy has won several accolades playing lacrosse in high school. Landy is a two-time state champion, a Golden Scholar, a three-time All-Star and an All-State Attack selection.
 
"Morgan is a fluid midfielder who plays smart, and highlights her abilities all over the field," says Concheck. "She especially shines with her aggressive play on attack as a driver, cutter, and active feeder. Her style of play with enhance our pace of play between the lines.

Audrey Argonish | West Chester, PA | West Chester East H.S. | Midfielder
The next signee is Audrey Argonish. In 2021, she was named All-Ches-Mont Team Honorable Mention and seized a plethora of individual accolades in 2023. That season Argonish led all scorers in girl's high school lacrosse all throughout the Philadelphia metropolitan area. She was named All-Ches-Mont Team 2nd Team, Daily Local News All-Area-Honorable Mention and led the team in total points, being named team offensive MVP as a result. She had scored 99 Goals through 40 games up to this point.
 
"Audrey is an athlete who is determined to succeed, and plays with heart," said Concheck. "She is willing to go the extra inch and has a "no quit" mentality. She will enhance our culture immediately on and off the field.
 
Taevyn Reser | Littleton, CO | Valor Christian H.S. | Midfielder
The final signee is Taevyn Reser. Reser has been named a tournament all-star three times. Academically Reser has been named to the Honor Roll and Honors Society and has been awarded the Presidential Award of Academic Excellence Tournament All-Star three times.
 
"Taevyn is a true competitor with unwavering self-belief," says Concheck. "She is strong bodied and plays physical, which will enhance our grit all over the field."
