Rock Hill, S.C. – After recently concluding their 2023 fall season, the Eagles are pleased to announce their 2024 spring schedule. The full schedule can be found HERE.

Winthrop will open the season at home with a three-game non-conference matchup against Rutgers University (February 16-18). Rutgers is coming off a strong season under the helm of Steve Owens. The Scarlet Knights won 33 games including a 14-10 mark in the Big Ten conference.
 
"Our non-conference schedule features four "Power Five" conference opponents", says Riginos.
 
Following the Eagles opening weekend, the team will head south on I-77 the following Tuesday for a SEC matchup at Founders Park facing the South Carolina Gamecocks. A matchup that will be the first of two for the Eagles as the Gamecocks make the return trip to Rock Hill May 7 in the midweek schedule.
 
Winthrop will also make two ACC trips in March. The first to face the Wolfpack from NC State on March 5 as well as the Clemson Tigers on March 19 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
 
"We will compete against Big Ten member Rutgers University Opening Weekend, February 16-18. We face the University of Toledo February 23-25, the University of Maine March 1-3, and Appalachian State March 8-10. We will travel to New York to play St John's University March 28– 30," says Riginos.
 
The Eagles will kick off their Big South Conference schedule hosting Longwood University. In addition to hosting the Lancers, Winthrop will also host USC Upstate, Radford and in the last regular season matchup of the year the Buccaneers from Charleston Southern will make the trip to the Winthrop Ballpark.
 
"Once again, the Big South Conference schedule will challenge the Eagles, but we look forward to competing for the championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional," says Riginos.
 
The 2023 Big South Baseball Tournament will feature the top four teams in the final conference standings. The location of the championship will be in High Point from May 23-25. The champion receives the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA regional.
