Prosser Promotes Mitch Hill To Assistant Coach

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mitch Hill has been promoted to assistant coach, head coach Mark Prosser announced Monday afternoon. He was hired as the director of basketball operations in April of 2021 after spending the 2020-21 at Western Carolina under Mark Prosser as the director of operations for the Catamounts.

Hill is another familiar face to the Winthrop program as he spent three seasons under Pat Kelsey prior to heading to Cullowhee, N.C. In those three seasons, Hill worked as the team's video coordinator (2016-17) and director of basketball operations in (2017-19). While at Winthrop, Hill was a part of an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016-17 and worked with two Big South Player of the Year selections in Keon Johnson (2016-17) and Xavier Cooks (2017-18). Hill and Prosser worked together on the Winthrop staff from 2016-2018.

Prior to his stint at Winthrop, Hill spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Tennessee Tech. The 2015-16 TTU squad went 19-12 and qualified for the postseason for the seventh time in program history as they participated in the Vegas 16 tournament.

A three-year basketball letterwinner at Tennessee Tech, Hill saw action in 43 career games including all 29 games during his sophomore year. During the 2012-13 season, he helped lead the Golden Eagles to a come-from-behind victory at Eastern Illinois thanks to three made 3-pointers in 29 minutes, both career highs. He excelled in the classroom, earning a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll eight times and the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll three times. Hill was the recipient of the teams' John P. Hendrix Leadership Award during his senior season of 2013-14.
