Gainey Named Big South Starting Pitcher Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Winthrop pitcher Garrett Gainey has been named Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Gainey had the best outing of his career as the Eagles shut out James Madison this past Friday. In 7.1 innings of work, he gave up just three hits and no runs while striking out seven batters and walking none.

This is Gainey's first weekly award of the season and the second time Winthrop has been honored in 2022 (Gainey, Jack Spyke).
