Eagles Will Host USC Upstate On ESPNU (Feb. 24)

Rock Hill, S.C. – ESPNU has selected the USC Upstate at Winthrop men's basketball game as the sixth and final Big South Wildcard broadcast of the 2021-22 season. The game will move on from its current Wednesday, Feb. 23 date to Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. inside the Winthrop Coliseum.

This matchup has the potential for huge implications for first place in the South Division. The Eagles currently lead the South Division with a 9-2 mark, one game ahead of Gardner-Webb (8-3) and two games up on USC Upstate (7-4).

Winthrop hosts an ESPNU wild card matchup for the third time this season. The first came Jan. 13 as the Eagles earned an 86-80 win in overtime over UNC Asheville. More recently the Eagles faced North Carolina A&T on Feb. 3, finishing with a 64-54 victory. It is the 9th season of the Big South Wild Card, as the Eagles hold a mark of 12-4 all-time and 9-0 at home.

The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m., but is getting moved to Thursday for the ESPNU broadcast. Fans that have already purchased tickets ahead of time for the Feb. 23 game will be able to use that ticket for admission to the game on Feb. 24.
