Charlotte, N.C.— Jalen Hodges placed second in the high jump and four personal records were set as the Winthrop Track & Field teams competed on Day 1 of the Charlotte Invitational.

On The Track
- Olivia Esselman set a PR in the women's 1500m invite with a time of 4:48.55, breaking her old mark of 4:53.88 at the 2019 Duke Invitational
- Jeremiah Boyd set a PR in the 3000m steeple with a time of 10:17.49, over a nine second improvement
- Austin Spencer set a PR in the men's 5000m with a time of 15:37.82
- Max Davis also set a PR in the men's 5000m as he knocked off more than 20 seconds off his previous mark with a time of 16:42.93
In The Field
- Eagles had three competitors in the women's hammer as Ambar Nunez-Gomez was the top finisher in 9th with a throw of 47.05m
- Jacob Furland finished 4th in the men's javelin with a heave of 43.96m
- Furland also placed 6th in the men's hammer with a throw of 51.82m
- Jalen Hodges finished second in the men's high jump with a height of 1.95m

The Winthrop track & field teams are set to compete again on Saturday, Apr. 24 at the Charlotte Invitational.
