Since 2000, the Eagles are 43-18 against the Bucs. Winthrop has won six of its last 10 meetings with Charleston Southern, including a home game earlier in the season. Winthrop took that meeting, 4-1, behind seven strong innings from
Willie Lumpkin.
The Eagles are coming off a season against the Radford Highlanders, where they took Game 1, before dropping both games of Saturday's doubleheader.
Spencer Yankle led the team offensively in its four games last week. Yankle went 6-for-15 at the dish, driving in six runs. He hit a first-inning three run homerun to give the Eagles an early lead in its 9-7 win over Radford. He also posted a .400 batting average.
Freshman
Ty Hooks continues to impress with his conference leading .419 batting average.
Parker Whittle will take the mound for the Eagles on Tuesday. The freshman has made five appearances this season, racking up 7.2 innings pitched with a 4.70 ERA.
The Buccaneers snapped a four-game losing streak with a doubleheader-sweep over USC Upstate on Saturday.
In the double header, four different Bucs connected on their first home runs of the season; Dylan Stewart, Connor Aldrich, Kyle Sandstrom and Sam Trend-Beacom, to lift them over the Spartans.
Tyrell Brewers has a team-high .303 batting average, while Sandstrom's 10 stolen bases on the season is a three-way tie for most in the Big South.
Charleston Southern enters the contest 12-15 overall, with all 12 wins coming against conference opponents.
