Rock Hill, S.C. – The Big South Conference announced today that the Gardner-Webb at Radford men's basketball conference series scheduled for Thursday-Friday, Jan. 14-15, has been postponed due to a pause within the Radford program for COVID-19 concerns. ESPNU will now feature the Longwood at Winthrop game on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7:00pm.
The Winthrop University Athletic Department announced Thursday that it will be allowing family members of the coaching staff and student-athletes to attend home men's and women's basketball games in a limited capacity beginning Thursday, Jan. 14.
Only immediate family members are allowed to attend the games. A decision to allow the general public to attend games in a limited capacity for the remainder of the seasons has not been made.
All of those in attendance will adhere to the Winthrop University guidelines and safety protocols by wearing masks at all times while in the building and remaining physically distanced. It is top priority to keep everyone safe inside of the coliseum.
The department is exploring the possibility of limited fan attendance for future home games. If the efforts are successful and approval from state and campus is secured then the plan is to move toward having fans attend future games.
