ROCK HILL, SC – Winthrop Athletics will be hosting a virtual Town Hall for all Winthrop students, faculty and staff on August 26 at 7 p.m.
"Knowing Our Place In History" will explore Rock Hill's history as part of the sit-in movement with nonviolent direct action as pivotal events during the Civil Rights Movements and will feature a guided discussion and Q & A session with Frederick Taylor, director of
Counter Histories: Rock Hill, a documentary about the Friendship 9. The event will also cover the current climate of race and social justice in the United States.
Winthrop University faculty, staff and students who wish to attend can register here:
TOWN HALL REGISTRATION and will receive a zoom invitation no later than August 25. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. on August 24.
Winthrop students are able to earn cultural event credit by registering and attending the Town Hall.
This is the second Athletics Town Hall of 2020 and demonstrates the department's commitment to unity and racial equality.
