Men’s Tennis Falls To Georgia Southern

Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop men's tennis suffered their second consecutive defeat Sunday when they lost to Georgia Southern, 5-2.

MATCH FACTS
  • Abhimanyu Vannemreddy has now won five straight matches at No. 1 singles.
  • Rhys Jones took part in singles action for the first time in 2020.  The junior lost at No. 6 singles to Jonathan Morales.
  • Winthrop saw some shakeup to their doubles lineup.  Abhimanyu Vannemreddy and Connor Williamson moved up to No. 1 doubles while new pairings were introduced at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.  Enzo Silveira and Gabriel Dias lost their first match as a pair at No. 2 doubles while Miha Velicki and Rhys Jones won their first match as a team at No. 3 doubles.
  • This was the most experienced lineup Winthrop has used this season.  Half of the players who took part in Sunday's action were upperclassmen.

Winthrop returns to action this Friday at Tennessee Tech before returning home to take on USC Upstate on Sunday.
