Ever Stand at Home: Gabriel Dias Q&A

Rock Hill, S.C. - While student-athletes are spending their time at home, we wanted to catch up with them to see how they are passing time.  Alyssa Sconzo of WinthropEagles.com caught up with Gabriel Dias of Winthrop men's tennis for the first installment of #EverStand at Home.

AS: "How have you been spending your time since the season was canceled?"
GD: "So just like everyone else, I've been spending this time at home trying to stay as positive as possible. Doing homework, some physical exercises… but also finishing the semester strong and doing as much school work as possible."

AS: "A lot of people out there are binge-watching shows, what have you been watching?"
GD: "That's a great question.  I pretty much spend about four hours a day watching shows.  My girlfriend has spent the quarantine with me, so we've been watching shows together, since we don't have anything else to do.  I watched Joe Exotic (Tiger King) in a day and a half. I'm watching Ozark right now, and we passed through the first ten episodes in two days. I've spent a lot of time watching Netflix and watching documentaries as well because I'm a big fan."

AS: "What's been your favorite thing about Winthrop?"
GD: "A lot of people ask me that and my answer is always the same.  My favorite thing about Winthrop is always the people.  They are amazing.  My coaches were phenomenal. My teammates were nothing but incredible.  The athletics staff, professors… everyone here is so welcoming and supportive.  I think I was able to develop myself so much over here thanks to the people who were with me."

AS: "In your time at Winthrop, what has been your most memorable moment?"
GD: "I think probably the time spent with my teammates.  Coming from Brazil and staying over here for four years has been tough for me but having them in my life has made things much easier.  In the good moments and tough moments, they are always supporting me and competing by my side. We became brothers and are a big family over here. Every single moment with them are my favorite moments over the years.

AS: "We have a couple rapid fire questions for you. Are you ready?"
GD: "Sounds good, yeah!"

AS: "Funniest teammate?"
GD: "Connor Williamson."

AS: "Best dancer?"
GD: "Aditya Gokhale."

AS: "One teammate you would want to be quarantined with?"
GD: "Bernardo Kayat, but that's a tough one!"

AS: "Alright, well I really appreciate you chatting with us today!"
GD: "Thank you for the opportunity and it's always my pleasure!"
