Eagles Complete Final Day At The Carolina Challenge

Columbia, S.C. – Winthrop Track & Field completed its competition at the Carolina Challenge on Saturday at the University of South Carolina. The weekend featured record breaking performances by the men's and women's team.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES 
  • Senior's  Evan Hailes and Colby Thorn completed the weekend at the top of their events
  • Hailes finished the triple jump with a leap of 14.58, breaking the indoor track and field record of a 14.54 set by Keary Simms in 2011
  • Hailes landed in fourth overall at the meet, and was the men's top performer
  • Colby Thorn competed in the long jump, placing in ninth (5th among collegiate competitors attached to an institution)
  • Junior Alexis Jeffery finished the triple jump in fifth place, with a mark of 11.72m

"The athletes stepped up in what was the deepest meet of the year. A mix of good performances in the open events and some stellar ones in the invitational. We look forward to a couple of weeks of training before hitting the rad at VMI"
 
UP NEXT
The Eagles will head to Lexington, Va. to participate in the VMI Indoor Classic Feb. 14-15.
