Athletic Department Staff Changes Announced

Rock Hill, S.C.—Winthrop athletics announces staff changes with the addition of Kelley Kish as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance and Senior Woman Administrator while Hank Harrawood has been promoted to Deputy AD.

Kish will begin her role in February and will oversee budget and finance, gender equity, Title IX, sport administration as well as serve on senior staff.

Kish comes to Winthrop after spending the last two years as the Director of Athletics for Lake Erie College in Painesville, OH. At Lake Erie College Kish was the leader of an athletic department with 19 NCAA Division II athletic programs. During her tenure she worked on enhancing the student-athlete experience through full analysis of the department to include increased academic success support, Life Skills programming, and set inclusive culture of sustained success and graduation. Among several other accomplishments in her time at Lake Erie College, she was responsible for the overall department budget and forecasting as well as a new athletic financial aid scholarship model. Under Kish's leadership, Lake Erie achieved three conference championships (women's lacrosse, wrestling, and men's soccer) and established a new athletic financial aid model for the department.

Kish brings a wealth of collegiate administrative experience to the Winthrop athletic department. Prior to her leadership role at Lake Erie College, Kish spent just over five years at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. There she was the Associate Director of Athletics for Sport Administration, Compliance and Internal Operations/Senior Woman Administrator. At Nova Southeastern she was a sport administrator for 12 of the department's 17 athletic programs. She also spearheaded department inclusion efforts for Title IX compliance, gender, and diversity equity. Kish led the hosting efforts of several post-season competitions as well as taking on the role of tournament manager for the 2013 & 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament South Regional where NSU earned regional championships and advanced to the Elite 8 (2013 and Final Four (2014).

Before arriving at Nova Southeastern Kish spent two years as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance/Senior Women Administrator for the University of Indianapolis. Kish had several duties that included educating and monitoring of 21 sports, Title IX and university compliance, development and implementation of diversity and inclusion plan, and was the SAAC Liaison.

Kish's career in athletics began at the University of Florida in 2001 as the Coordinator of Volleyball Operations/Director of Camp Operations. She graduated from Florida with a bachelor's degree in telecommunications in 2003 and a master's degree in sport management in 2009, Kish continued her role until leaving for Nova Southeastern in the summer of 2010.

The national experience and memberships that Kish possesses is a long list. Kish is currently on the Board of Director's for Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA). She's held many committee positions for several sports that include track & field, women's volleyball, cross country, soccer, and lacrosse. Kish currently chairs the NCAA External Review Panel for the Innovations Grant and chaired the Life Skills Yearly Initiatives Action Team and Symposium Committee as well as facilitating the Student-Athlete Leadership Forum and Career in Sports Forum. Kish also chaired the NCAA Women's Volleyball Rules Committee.

Harrawood, who has been at Winthrop a little over a year, is currently the Associate Athletic Director for Administration. As Deputy Athletics Director Harrawood will oversee all day-to-day administrative matters for the department. Harrawood currently has several responsibilities that include eligibility determinations for student-athletes, extensive compliance education with members of the athletic department and a diverse campus community, audit and review all information dealing with NCAA Bylaws and Constitutions, and direct day-to-day oversight of strength & conditioning, athletic training, life skills, student-athlete leadership programming and various department human resource matters. Harrawood will begin the role of Deputy Athletics Director immediately.

Shea Maple, Director of Athletic Partnerships and Giving, has been named the interim Associate AD for External Operations duties until a search will begin in the summer.
