ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop University tennis player
Diego Quiroz has been awarded the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, and will continue his education this fall in Winthrop's Master of Business Administration program with a concentration on international business, the university announced today.
Quiroz is one of 21 men nationwide to receive the $10,000 scholarship, which is awarded to student-athletes who are nominated by their institutions faculty athletic representative for excelling both academically and athletically.
"Winning the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship means a lot, I am so happy that all my hard work on and off the court paid off," said Quiroz. "I can't wait to start my MBA program and go back to Rock Hill."
Quiroz was team captain on the 2018-19 men's tennis team and was named First Team All-Conference in singles. He finished his senior year with a 14-6 singles record, and recorded a 6-2 mark in the Big South Conference Tournament, all at the No. 1 position. Quiroz finished his career at Winthrop as one of only 13 players in Big South men's tennis history to be a four-time All-Conference honoree.
In addition to his studies, he will assist the women's tennis team as a graduate assistant coach.
