* Winning Ways: Winthrop has won four straight ballgames for the club's longest winning streak of 2019 to get back over .500 at 10-9. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 36-16 in that span but have won in multiple ways, including a save situation (Davidson), two blowouts (Games 1-2 vs. CSU) and a walk-off win (CSU series finale)
*Lipscomb Leading: Senior OF
Hunter Lipscomb has emerged as the Eagles' hottest bat of late, and was named this week's Big South Player of the Week for his efforts. Over the past five games, Lipscomb is 9-21 (.429) at the plate with a home run, two doubles, seven RBI and seven runs scored. Lipscomb's walk-off single on Sunday was his seventh hit in the series vs. CSU, and now boasts a season batting average of .351 (20-57), good for the fourth highest batting average in the Big South conference. (Adam Whitacre, RAD - .388)
* Raines Raking: Alex Raines had the best offensive game of his Winthrop career on Sunday, going a perfect 5-5 at the plate with a double and four singles, one of which came in the four run ninth inning. In a game where the Eagles took a while to wake up the bats, Raines was as steady as can be, knocking five of the Eagles' twelve hits.
*Superb Starters: Winthrop got great starts from all three starting hurlers in the Charleston series.
Zach Peek pitched 7.0 innings of one-hit ball on Friday night with nine strikeouts,
Nate Pawelczyk tossed 6.0 innings of shutout ball with seven strikeouts of his own, and
Thad Harris threw 6.1 innings on Sunday without allowing an earned run, allowing four hits and striking out four.
* Bolstered Bats: Following the CSU series Winthrop is atop the Big South Conference in team batting average at .271. The Eagles also lead the Big South in hits (175), doubles (34) and total bases (257). Winthrop ranks second in the league in slugging percentage (.398), on base percentage (.355), runs scored (119), runs batted in (109), home runs (14) and stolen bases (23).
