EAGLE HIGHLIGHTS
-The Eagles split a pair of road matches in Georgia last weekend, falling to host Georgia Southern 5-2, but defeating Kennesaw State 6-1.

-Senior Diego Quiroz and freshman Alberto Tinagli each own seven-match winning streaks in singles play and 8-3 overall records.

-Quiroz posted the clinching point for Winthrop in the win over Kennesaw State, with a three-set win at the No. 1 position. After Quiroz took the first set 6-3, the Owls' Fermin Calvo held on for a tiebreak second set win to force a deciding third set. Quiroz stormed back in the third for a shutout 6-0 set and the match win.

-Reunited as a doubles duo at the No. 1 position, Quiroz and Connor Williamson posted 6-0 and 6-1 victories against Georgia Southern and Kennesaw State, respectively.

-The Eagles' success so far this season has followed the doubles point, winning each of the six matches in which they have won the doubles point, and losing the five matches in which their opponents take the opening point.

THE MATCH-UPS
-Appalachian State has seen some struggles in the nonconference portion of its schedule, though they enter the match with Winthrop off a 4-2 win against Norfolk State and host Southern Mississippi Fri., Mar. 15. The Mountaineers fell 6-1 to Big South foe UNC Asheville and posted a win against their only other common opponent with the Eagles, a 4-0 victory over NC A&T who the Eagles also swept.

-Sunday's match will serve as the conference opener for Longwood, whose originally scheduled Big South opener at Gardner-Webb was postponed. The Lancers will be coming off a Saturday match as well, facing NC A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

UP NEXT
The Eagles play two matches next weekend as well, heading to Elon on Fri., Mar. 22 at 3 p.m. and hosting UNC Asheville in a Big South contest on Sun., Mar. 24 at 1 p.m.
