Eagles Host Davidson, College of Charleston This Week

First two matches at Rock Hill Tennis Center this season

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's tennis (2-2) will enjoy the friendly confines of Rock Hill Tennis Center for the first time this season, hosting Davidson (4-1) and College of Charleston (1-2) this week. The Eagles will take on Davidson on Weds., Feb. 6 and CofC on Fri., Feb. 8. Both matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.

EAGLE HIGHLIGHTS 
-Winthrop has put up two impressive close victories so far this season. The Eagles opened the season with a 4-3 victory over William & Mary with newcomer Rafaela Santos delivering the clinching point at the No. 4 position. At the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Winthrop took down Memphis 4-3, with senior Ellie Burns clinching the match with a three-set victory at No. 6.

-All-Americans Megan Kauffman and Lauren Proctor are undefeated at the No. 1 doubles position at 3-0 so far this season.

-No. 66 Proctor is undefeated in singles play, including a victory over No. 24 Kenya Jones of Georgia Tech last weekend.

THE MATCH-UPS
-Davidson is off to a 4-1 start on the season, including a 6-1 victory over fellow Big South team UNC Asheville. The Wildcats are coming off a 7-0 loss to conference foe VCU on Sunday.

-Last season, Winthrop earned a 4-3 win over Davidson on the road on Sun., Feb. 11.

-Charleston is 1-2 in the early goings of the season, with losses to ACC foes Wake Forest and Clemson and a 4-3 season-opening win over Big South newcomer USC Upstate.

-Last season, Winthrop earned a 6-1 victory on the road at CofC on Fri., Mar. 9.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
Proctor entered the spring ranked No. 66 after the fall season. Doubles duo Proctor and Kauffman, who tore through 2018 on an undefeated 24-match winning streak that carried them to the NCAA Doubles Championship Quarterfinals, are ranked No. 22 in the nation. The next singles and doubles national rankings release is slated for Weds., Feb. 6.

The Eagles are on the road at Wake Forest next Sat., Feb. 16 at 12 p.m.
