Alisa Soloveva owns a four-match winning streak and earned Big South Player of the Week honors after her win over a nationally ranked opponent in Wake Forest's No. 95 Anna Ulyashchenko.
-With Friday's match against Charlotte postponed due to weather, the match at Presbyterian will be the Eagles' first in over 10 days.
-Winthrop has put up two impressive close victories so far this season. The Eagles opened the season with a 4-3 victory over William & Mary with newcomer
Rafaela Santos delivering the clinching point at the No. 4 position. At the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Winthrop took down Memphis 4-3, with senior
Ellie Burns clinching the match with a three-set victory at No. 6.
THE MATCH-UP
-PC opened conference play with a win over new league member Hampton and has a strong 7-3 start to the season.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
In the latest ITA/Oracle Division I National Rankings released Feb. 20,
Megan Kauffman and
Lauren Proctor are at No. 31 in the nation in the doubles rankings, while Proctor is No. 51 in the singles list.
UP NEXT
The Eagles host two Big South matches at home at Rock Hill Tennis Center next week, taking on Asheville on Wed., Mar. 6 and Radford on Thurs., Mar. 7. Both matches are set to begin at 2 p.m. and admission is free.
