ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's tennis senior
Alisa Soloveva earned a national ranking Wednesday as the final Oracle ITA Division I National Fall Rankings were announced. Soloveva is ranked No. 95, a career-high.
Â
Soloveva shined on the national stage for Winthrop this fall, including a win over a nationally ranked opponent at the prestigious 2019 Oracle ITA Masters Championship in Malibu, Calif. In the singles competition, 21-seed Soloveva took down No. 20 Asuka Kawai (Illinois), the 12-seed in the tournament, in three sets.
Â
Soloveva was stellar against nationally ranked singles opponents in her 2019 spring season, with wins over No. 95 Anna Ulyashchenko (Wake Forest) and No. 75 Alana Smith (NC State). She also defeated Oklahoma's Martina Capurro 6-2, 6-3 in the NCAA Tournament and posted a 19-1 overall dual match record at the No. 2 position en route to earning First-Team All-Conference honors for the third-consecutive season.
