ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop women's tennis heads to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the prestigious ITA Kickoff Weekend, held at 30 campus sites around the country (15 women's and 15 men's.) No. 3 seed Winthrop will take on No. 2 seed Oklahoma at 11 a.m. on Fri., Jan. 25 to open competition, while top-seed Vanderbilt, the second-ranked team in the nation, takes on No. 4 seed Memphis. The winners of each match will play in the final at 1 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 26 with the consolation played at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

EAGLE HIGHLIGHTS 
-Winthrop opened the season with a 4-3 victory over William & Mary last Sunday with newcomer 
Rafaela Santos delivering the clinching point at the No. 4 position. 
-All-Americans 
Megan Kauffman and 
Lauren Proctor opened the season with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles over the Tribe's Lauren Goodman and Charlotte Madson.
-In 2018 Winthrop won its 20
th all-time Big South Conference Championship title, earning its 16
th bid to the NCAA Tournament. The team made more history, earning its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory with a 4-3 win over No. 20 Auburn in the first round.
THE MATCH-UPS
Oklahoma is 2-0 to start the season with wins over SMU and Oral Roberts. Memphis is seeing its first action of the season in Nashville this weekend. As the No. 2 team in the country, host and top-seed Vanderbilt boasts five nationally ranked singles players and three doubles duos in the national rankings. 
PRESEASON RANKINGS
Proctor entered the spring ranked No. 66 after the fall season. Doubles duo Proctor and Kauffman, who tore through 2018 on an undefeated 24-match winning streak that carried them to the NCAA Doubles Championship Quarterfinals, are ranked No. 22 in the nation.
UP NEXT
The Eagles' imposing 2019 campaign continues next Sat., Feb. 2 as the squad travels to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech, a familiar foe from last spring's NCAA Tournament. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
