ROCK HILL, S.C. – No. 1 seed Winthrop men's tennis (11-7, 7-0 Big South Conference) begins play in the Big South Men's Tennis Championship Monday, taking on No. 8 seed Radford at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in the first of four quarterfinal matches scheduled for the day.

EAGLE HIGHLIGHTS
-The squad's 7-0 record is the best since the 2011 team finished the regular season 6-0 in league play and 16-6 overall. It also marks the first regular season championship for Winthrop since 2011 and the ninth overall. In the Big South, it's the first time since 2005 (also Winthrop) that both a men's and women's team of a league school have gone undefeated in conference play.

Tremayne Mitchell has won 11 of his last 12 matches, and has climbed the ladder to play his last six matches at the No. 2 position. His team-leading 14-4 overall record (.778) is among the best in the Big South Conference and he owns a 6-1 record in league play.
-In doubles, Mitchell and
Diego Quiroz are undefeated at the court one position (5-0) in league matches.
-Quiroz is 5-2 in Big South play, with three of the five victories coming in straight sets, and 9-9 overall, all at the No. 1 singles position.

Gabriel Dias and
Joshua Ryan are an undefeated 10-0 at the No. 3 doubles position, the best record in the Big South Conference, including a perfect 6-0 league record.
-Dias and Ryan are equally successful in singles play. Dias is undefeated at 6-0 in conference play, with all but one of those victories coming in a three-set battle. Ryan owns a 6-1 conference record.
UP NEXT
With a win, the Eagles would advance to the semifinals of the Big South Championship, set for Tues., Apr. 17 at 10 a.m. against the winner of No. 4 Liberty/No. 5 Longwood.
