ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop men's tennis (4-5, 2-0 Big South) earned its third-straight victory with a 4-3 win over Tennessee Tech at Rock Hill Tennis Center Thursday afternoon.

Winthrop took an early 1-0 advantage with the doubles point, brought home by a tiebreak win on court two by Diego Quiroz and Connor Williamson, the duo's second-straight tiebreaker doubles win.

The Eagles had a rocky start to singles play, with all but Tremayne Mitchell and Gabriel Dias dropping their first sets, but each court would be a battle and five-of-six would need three sets for a decision. Tennessee Tech gained a 2-1 lead with wins on courts one and two, but the Eagles would answer with gutsy three-set victories from Connor Williamson and Joshua Ryan to regain a 3-2 advantage. The final points would come down to courts four and five in action and the Golden Eagles would tie up the match on court five. Meanwhile, Mitchell was in full control in the third set on court four, taking the win 6-0 and securing the match for Winthrop.

NOTABLES
-This was the third-straight match for the Eagles where at least four singles courts went to three sets.

-Gabriel Dias and Joshua Ryan won their fifth-straight match at the No. 3 doubles position. In singles play, Ryan has won four-straight matches, the past three in three sets.

-Tremayne Mitchell won his court four match in three sets, 6-2, 6-7, 6-0, improving to 4-0 in three-set matches, and bringing home the victory for Winthrop with his dominant third-set performance.
