Women's Tennis Takes Dominant 7-0 Sweep At Gardner-Webb Wednesday

Wins Marks Seven-Straight Victories for the Eagles.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's tennis (7-2, 2-0) earned a dominant 7-0 sweep on the road at Gardner-Webb (1-6, 0-1) Wednesday afternoon, the Eagles' seventh-straight victory.

Winthrop continued its strong doubles play of this season, taking the doubles point for the eighth time out of nine matches overall this season, and sweeping all courts for the third time. The momentum continued into singles play with all six Eagles winning their matches in two sets and no opponent winning more than four games in a set.

NOTABLES
-This was the first 7-0 complete sweep for the Eagles this season.

-Alisa Soloveva remains undefeated at court two, and has won her last three matches in straight sets.

-Though the freshman has six career doubles wins with partner Soloveva, this match marked the first-career singles match win for Tayla Van Eck.

The Eagles are on the road at College of Charleston Fri., Mar. 9 at 2:30 p.m. in a make-up of a previously scheduled home match at Winthrop that was postponed due to weather.
