ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop men's basketball standout
Xavier Cooks will be participating in the 2018 Reese's College All-Star Game on Friday, Mar. 30 as part of the NCAA Final Four festivities.
The game will take place on Mar. 30 at 3:30 p.m. (local) inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX and will air live on the CBS Sports Network. Cooks will play for the Reese's Division I East All-Stars, which will be coached by the Ivy League Coach of the Year James Jones of Yale.
Cooks enjoyed a career season for the Eagles and was named the 2017-18 Big South Conference Player of the Year. Cooks averaged 17.2 points (4
th in Big South) and 8.8 rebounds (2
nd in Big South. Cooks was the only in the conference that ranked in the Top 5 of scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, assists, and blocked shots.
The Wollongong, Australian native became the program's all-time leader in blocked shots (221) and rebounds (983) while finishing his career third all-time in scoring (1,778). During his time at Winthrop the Eagles were Big South regular season champions twice, won a conference championship and went to the NCAA Tournament in 2016-17. The team totaled 87 victories in his four seasons and he was an All-Big South selection three times.
