ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's tennis (12-4, 6-0 Big South) maintained its undefeated conference record with a 6-1 victory over Campbell (8-7, 4-2 Big South) Monday morning at Rock Hill Tennis Center in a rescheduled match from Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
-The Eagles won the doubles point for the 14
th time out of their 16 matches this season, taking all three courts. At the No. 2 position
Alisa Soloveva and
Tayla Van Eck earned their first shutout victory of the season, followed in short order by
Aida Kelic and
Ellie Burns on court three to clinch the doubles point for Winthrop. Undefeated No. 54 nationally ranked pair
Lauren Proctor and
Megan Kauffman were challenged at court one, but went up 5-4 on a break with a beautiful alley shot down the line by Proctor and secured the win on Proctor's serve game.
-Winthrop started the singles points in similar fashion, winning the first set on five of the six courts, and going on to win those five courts in straight sets.

Lauren Proctor made quick work of Campbell's Ana Castillo with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the one position to lead off singles play.
-Freshman
Tayla Van Eck won her second-consecutive match in straight sets, never trailing at court four to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
-Sophomore
Alisa Soloveva clinched the match with a 4-0 lead for Winthrop. Up 5-4 in her second set, she won on a break to take the set and the match and move to 13-2 on the season.
-With the match secured, junior
Aida Kelic stayed steady on court five to earn a 6-3, 6-3 win, her most dominant win since a 6-3, 6-2 win at College of Charleston on Mar. 9.
-In her second-straight match in the singles line-up, junior
Ellie Burns earned a straight-set victory at court six, winning on a break to close out the match for Winthrop.

UP NEXT
The Eagles head to Lynchburg, Va. to take on Liberty this Sat., Mar. 31 at 10 a.m. At 3-0 in league play, Liberty is the only other undefeated team in Big South Conference play so far this season.
