FARMVILLE, Va. – Winthrop men's tennis (5-6, 3-0 Big South) maintained its undefeated streak in Big South play with a 5-2 victory on the road at Longwood (7-7, 1-3 Big South) Sunday afternoon at the Lancer Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Eagles took the doubles point for the fifth time this season to get off to a strong start.

-Winthrop never trailed in the hard-fought match that saw five of six singles courts go to three sets and the Eagles taking victory in three: Gabriel Dias on five, Leandros Pappayiannis on two and Joshua Ryan on six.


NOTABLES
-Tremayne Mitchell won his fifth straight singles match with a 6-3, 6-1 victory on court three to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

-Gabriel Dias and Joshua Ryan improved to 6-0 at doubles court three with a 6-4 victory that secured the doubles point for Winthrop after a split on courts one and two.

-Leandros Pappayiannis clinched the match for Winthrop with a three-set victory on court two, just his second singles victory since re-entering the line-up.

UP NEXT
The Eagles host back-to-back matches next weekend, hosting Coastal Carolina on Fri., Mar. 23 at 2:30 p.m. and Big South opponent Campbell on Sat., Mar. 24 at 2 p.m. Both matches are at Rock Hill Tennis Center.
