ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's tennis (8-3, 2-0) was unable to topple nationally ranked No. 10 Wake Forest Sunday afternoon. The Demon Deacons took a 7-0 win at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

The Eagles fell just a few games short of taking the doubles point, but Wake Forest would earn the 7-5 decision on court two to get the point and the early 1-0 advantage. In singles play, the Deacs' ranking came through and they clinched the match.

NOTABLES
- Lauren Proctor and Megan Kauffman remained undefeated at the doubles one position with a 6-3 victory over the Deac's No. 31 duo Chandler Carter/Emma Davis. The Eagles pair is now 10-0.

- Alisa Soloveva forced a third-set tiebreak on court two with No. 88 Eliza Omirou, falling just a few points short, 10-7, in the tiebreak. In doubles, with partner Tayla Van Eck, Soloveva again

UP NEXT
The Eagles wrap up a six-match road stretch with two back-to-back conference contests. Winthrop will head to Radford on Weds., Mar. 14 at 1 p.m., then on Thurs., Mar. 15 go to Longwood for a 2 p.m. match.
