SENIOR NIGHT RECOGNITION
Winthrop will recognize four seniors prior to kickoff of Saturday's home match with Longwood. The four players competing in their final match on Eagle Field are Brandon Anselmo, Davis Bryan, Charlie Ramirez and Evan Stout.

Brandon Anselmo (Charlotte, NC)
A four-year member of the soccer team and a member of the 2015 Big South Conference Championship team. Anselmo has played in 32 career games with nine starts while scoring two goals. Scored his first collegiate goal just three games into his redshirt freshman season to help the Eagles in a 2-0 win over Mercer. Anselmo will graduate with a degree in exercise science and a minor in health.

Davis Bryan (Dacula, GA)
Transferred to the Eagles from Newberry College where he scored eight goals in his career. Played a key role for the Eagles this season and has two goals and an assist. He scored in his first game as an Eagle and has started 12-of-14 games played. Davis is working toward his master's in business administration.

Charlie Ramirez (Castellon, Spain)
Began his career at Central Florida but transferred to Winthrop as a sophomore and has played in 38 games with 37 starts, logging over 3,100 minutes while serving as team captain the past two seasons. Ramirez scored his only goal as an Eagle on Sept. 30, 2017 against Longwood in a 1-0 victory in overtime. Will graduate with a degree in business administration with a focus in international business.

Evan Stout (Indianapolis, IN)
Has been a four-year member of the team and was a member of the 2015 Big South Conference Championship team. He has played in 30 games with two career starts. He scored his first collegiate goal on Sept. 19, 2017 against Georgia Southern. Stout will graduate with a degree in Business Administration and has already been hired by a financial planning firm.

SERIES HISTORY VERSUS LONGWOOD
Winthrop and Longwood meet for the 12th time as the Eagles are 10-1 all-time. The Eagles have won three straight meetings, including a 1-0 overtime victory in 2017. The last five meetings have all been by one goal, as have 8-of-11 meetings all-time.

THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET
Eagles and Lancers battled 90 minutes without either team breaking through in 2017 as the game headed to overtime for the first time in the history of the series. Center back Charlie Ramirez turned out to be the hero for the Eagles in overtime. He made a run into the box as the Eagles played a cross that was headed straight in the air by a Longwood defender. Ramirez ran onto the ball uncontested and headed the ball into the left side of the goal from about seven yards out for the golden goal.

A GLANCE AT THE EAGLES
The Eagles look to end the 2018 season on a high note as they have battled through a slew of injuries down the stretch. Winthrop is coming off a 3-0 non-conference loss at College of Charleston on Tuesday as the Eagles couldn't convert any of their scoring opportunities. Jogvan Jacobsen hit the post in the 8th minute and the Eagles finished with 10 shots and two corners. The best the Eagles can finish in the Big South standings is a tie for 6th. That would take two Gardner-Webb losses and two Longwood losses down the stretch. If the Eagles earn a win Saturday they'd be 3-5 in the league. Winthrop will recognize its four seniors prior to kickoff, but unfortunately, senior's Evan Stout and Charlie Ramirez will miss the game with injuries.

A GLANCE AT THE COUGARS
Cougars enter the game fresh off a 2-1 home win over Northeastern to celebrate their senior day. The win ended a three-game losing streak. This season the Cougars at 2-4-1 at home. Tucker Heffron is the team's leading the team in scoring with 10 points (5 goals). Joao De souza is second on the team with six points (1g, 4a). On the year the Cougars have scored 14 goals and allowed 26 which is very similar to the Eagles (17 goals scored, 27 allowed).

10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF 2008 BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP
This season the Eagles celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2008 Big South Conference Championship team.
The 2008 team survived some of the most dramatic games in program history on its way to a 15-6-1 record overall as it fell 3-1 at William & Mary in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles captured a 3-2 win at Coastal Carolina on Nov. 5 in foggy conditions as Matt Lacey's laser from 35 yards on a counter found the upper left corner of the goal with 4:16 left in regulation. The Eagles rallied in that game from a 2-1 deficit early in the second half to clinch the regular season title. In the conference tournament (Held at Coastal) the Eagles advanced to the title game in penalties against Liberty. The title game saw the Eagles steal their third title in program history against Coastal. The Chanticleers grabbed a 3-2 lead on a penalty kick in the 87th minute as the Eagles scored with just 21 seconds on the clock to force overtime and then in the 101st minute Daniel Revivo buried a service to the back post for the golden goal victory.

BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Winthrop was picked sixth in the Big South preseason poll as High Point was voted as the favorite with 7-of-9 first-place votes. High Point was followed by Radford, Campbell, Presbyterian College and Gardner-Webb. Tied for 7th was UNC Asheville and Longwood while USC Upstate was voted 9th. The top six teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Big South Conference Tournament.

WHAT'S AHEAD
This game will conclude the season for the Eagles as Tuesday's (Oct. 30) scheduled game against Liberty has been canceled.
