During his three seasons as assistant coach of Lander he led the Bearcats to a second-place regular season finish in 2023 and 2025. This past year the Bearcats posted a 9-5-4 overall record and 7-1-2 record in the Peach Belt Conference. In his first season as assistant coach at Lander, Morris helped lead the Bearcats to a 9-5-4 overall record and a 7-1-2 conference record. After a successful regular season, the Bearcats were tabbed as the No. 2 seed in the 2023 PBC tournament bracket. Lander went on to defeat the No. 3 seed North Georgia 3-0 in the semifinals before falling to the No. 1 seeded Clayton State in the championship game.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome Trey to Winthrop and our men's soccer program," stated Parker. "Trey and I have worked side by side at Lincoln Memorial University, Appalachian FC, and Lander University, so there's a strong foundation of trust and shared vision already in place. He understands exactly how I want to build and develop a team, and his experience, work ethic, and eye for talent will be huge as we continue rebuilding this program the right way. Our players are going to benefit tremendously from his energy and game understanding."
Morris was also an assistant coach for Appalachian FC, where they placed second in the southeast conference of the NPSL with a 7-0-3 record in the 2025 season.
